January 2017’s final Club Cricket SA Player of the Week award has been secured by Green Point Cricket Club’s Zac Elkin.
Elkin welcomed back-to-back centuries during a convincing Western Province Cricket Association first division A fixture against Montrose Cricket Club.
The talented opening batsman struck a commanding 137 in the first innings – and a complementary 100 not out in the second – against a strong visiting bowling attack led by strike bowlers Mthiwekhaya Nabe and Luke Petersen. He faced 337 deliveries – and struck 20 fours and one six – in total.
The right-handed Elkin was key to Green Point Cricket Club’s promotion to the WPCA first division A last season – and his twin tons have certainly buoyed their bid for elevation to the 2017-18 premier league.
