South African fast bowler Codi Yusuf took six wickets on County Championship, division one, debut for Durham recently.
Yusuf collected two wickets in the first innings and four in the second for match figures of six for 62, as Durham beat Worcestershire at New Road. His six wickets included the dismissal of New Zealand batsman Henry Nicholls.
“I just want to thank Durham for giving me the opportunity to be part of their team for this season. It’s been a dream to play county cricket for me, so I find it extremely special to be part of Durham,” said Yusuf.
“I know there is some special players in the changing room as well so I’m immensely excited to meet the players and be part of what looks like a very great environment.”
Durham are currently without South African batsman David Bedingham, who has been sidelined by a toe injury.
Durham director of cricket Marcus North: “Codi joins us on the back of a successful domestic season in South Africa and will strengthen our bowling attack over the coming months.
“With a number of our seam bowlers not available due to injury it was important we acted quickly, and we have done that with the addition of Codi. We look forward to welcoming Codi to Durham and watching him play a key part on the field in the coming weeks.”
Yusuf plays for the Lions in South African domestic cricket.
