A wise move from Robertson Cricket Club to Coronation Cricket Club has fueled the talented Danico Philmon’s bid to play for Boland again – and perhaps graduate to franchise cricket.
Philmon, who has not played provincial cricket since December 2014, scored a superb century for his new club against Young Peoples Cricket Club in the Boland Cricket Board premier league at the Dal Josaphat Stadium in Paarl recently.
“I am patient and my move to play for Coronation this season is part of my plan to regain my place in the Boland side. I must add that it was a tough decision to leave Robertson Cricket Club. It is my hometown club, where I started my career. I am ecstatic with the century. I won’t say it was an easy knock, but the conditions were perfect for scoring runs,” said Philmon.
The 30-year-old left-hander’s 109, which included a dozen fours, was not enough to secure victory, but has inspired him to pursue higher honours.
“It is a long way back since I played for Boland. It is a matter of regaining my confidence and working hard. I have set myself goals – and they include playing, in the near future, for the Cape Cobras,” concluded Philmon.
