Cravenby Cricket Club acquire former Cape Cobras fast bowler

Former Cape Cobras fast bowler Francois Plaatjies has joined Cravenby Cricket Club.

Plaatjies has moved from Kraaifontein Cricket Club. He has also previously represented United Cricket Club and Bellville Cricket Club. He played first-class cricket for the Cape Cobras and Western Province from 2007 to 2014.

Plaatjies will join former Cape Cobras all-rounder Shaheen Khan and Western Province-contracted batsman Yaseen Vallie at Cravenby Cricket Club. Khan and Vallie have returned to Cravenby Cricket Club after stints with United Cricket Club and Pinelands Cricket Club, respectively.

“We are thrilled to announce that Francois Plaatjies will be joining us, along with Yaseen Vallie and Shaheen Khan,” read a statement from Cravenby Cricket Club.

“We believe that Francois’ inclusion in the bowling attack will greatly benefit our team and help elevate the performance of our bowling department.

“With his expertise and experience, we are confident that he will also play a crucial role in the development and upskilling of our upcoming bowlers.

“We are incredibly excited about this new chapter for Cravenby and look forward to the success and growth that these talented individuals will bring to our team.”

Cravenby Cricket Club ended the 2022-23 Western Province Cricket Association first division C in seventh position. They won seven matches and lost 10, with one no-result.
