South Africa ended the round-robin stage of the tournament in second position before losing to Australia. This is the fifth time the Proteas have exited the Cricket World Cup at the semi-final stage.

“Cricket South Africa is immensely proud of the Proteas’ performance at the Cricket World Cup,” said Nkwe.

“While we didn’t achieve the ultimate victory, the determination and competitiveness shown by our team were truly admirable.

“CSA remain committed to supporting our team in their continuous pursuit of excellence and look forward to their future endeavours with optimism and enthusiasm.”
