CSA give Rylands Cricket Club and Victoria Cricket Club blue flag status

Cricket South Africa have given Rylands Cricket Club and Victoria Cricket Club blue flag status.

The two Cape Town-based clubs are among 14 countrywide afforded the status this week.

“‘Blue flag status for club’ is a Cricket South Africa initiative given to clubs who have driven the objectives and aims of the presidential plan (supplies a minimum to running an effective cricket pipeline structure),” read a statement from CSA.

“The criteria used to find the status of such a club will be based on administration capabilities, adequate facilities, minimum number of teams and suitably qualified coaches.

“Affiliate registered clubs needed to complete a club quality index (CQI) form to find their status. The CQI is an administrative self-evaluation document that serves to guide in finding the status of a registered club in driving the CSA presidential plan club cricket aims. A club wishing to find blue flag status must score 90 percent on the CQI.”

T20 Community Cup and National Club Championship incentives

Victoria Cricket Club are effectively excluded from the T20 Community Cup and National Club Championship incentives afforded to blue flag clubs for the 2022-23 season. They compete in the Western Province Cricket Association first division A. Only WPCA premier league clubs can qualify for the T20 Community Cup and National Club Championship.

Rylands Cricket Club are included in the T20 Community Cup and National Club Championship incentives. They are a WPCA premier league club.

“If the club qualifying for the prize money has attained blue flag status prior to the commencement of the championship qualifiers, their prize money will be doubled,” added CSA.
