Cricket South Africa have reiterated a designated safeguarding officer must be appointed at every club across the country.

The appointments will effectively align CSA with the International Cricket Council‘s safeguarding policies.

CSA announced the implementation of phase two of the safeguarding policy last week. This week, The Western Province Cricket Association instructed affiliated clubs to appoint a designated safeguarding officer.

“Every club, school and mini-cricket structure in South Africa must appoint, train, and empower
a designated safeguarding officer,” read this week’s dvisory from CSA coach education manager Gift Mathe and head of cricket pathways Edward Khoza.

“Every person, employed or volunteering within any club, school, mini cricket or any other
cricket programmes must be in possession of the appropriate CSA coaching accreditation and
be cleared against the sexual offences register, child protection register, and have a criminal check done.”
