Western Province Cricket Association president Johannes Adams has been appointed to Cricket South Africa’s local organising committee board for the 2027 Cricket World Cup.
Adams was appointed WPCA president in August 2023.
“Adams is a lifelong educator and cricket leader. After 36 years in teaching, he’s now president of the WPCA and a CSA members council representative,” read a statement from CSA.
“From coaching future stars to leading at every level, he’s been a pillar of cricket and education in the Western Cape for decades.”
Former South African minister of finance Trevor Manuel has been appointed chairperson of the committee.
“Manuel brings a rich background of government leadership, where he led economic reform and national development planning,” said CSA president Rihan Richards.
“His leadership reflects the discipline and strategy essential in both sport and board governance. Manuel is supported by six independent non-executive directors, five non-independent non-executive directors and three ex-officio members, making up the full board.”
South Africa will co-host the tournament with Zimbabwe and Namibia in October and November 2027.
