Former Proteas spinner Dane Piedt will captain the Morrisville Raptors in the 2022 edition of the Minor League Cricket Championship in the United States of America.

Piedt’s vice captain will be fellow South African and former Knights cricketer Obus Pienaar. Piedt and Pienaar previously represented the DC Hawks and St Louis Americans, respectively.

The Morrisville Raptors have effectively replaced the Cardinals for this year’s Minor League Cricket Championship, which will start later this month.

“The Morrisville Cardinals will not return to play in the 2022 season. The Raptors will be led by former South African international Dane Piedt as captain, and Obus Pienaar as vice-captain, with both stars relocated permanently to Morrisville to help foster the growth of the game in the community,” read a statement from the Raptors.
