Proteas spinner Dane Piedt has signed a contract with the Knights in South African domestic cricket.

Piedt played first-class cricket in South Africa for 10 years before relocating to the United States of America.

He represented Washington Freedom in last year’s inaugural edition of Major League Cricket before returning to South Africa to play for the Knights in division two of the 2023-24 4-Day Domestic Series.

The Knights have since been promoted to division one – and contracted Piedt for two years.

“I’m taking my talents to ‘Bloem Vegas’. Happy to have signed for two years in the Free State for the Knights. Having my short stint in Bloemfontein, working with a young, talented squad made my decision very, very easy,” Piedt wrote on social media.

“I’m really looking forward to return to domestic cricket in South Africa and trying to contribute as much as I can on and off the field.”

Piedt played nine Tests from 2014 to 2019 – and added a 10th in 2024.

The Knights have also signed spinner Aaron Phangiso from the Titans, batsman Lesego Senokwane from North West and fast bowler Johan van Dyk from Northern Cape.

Batsman Luke Beaufort has left the Knights for South Western Districts.
