Batsman David Bedingham has been named in Western Province’s squad for this week’s One-Day Cup fixture against the Tuskers at Newlands in Cape Town.
Bedingham recently won division two of the County Championship with Durham in the United Kingdom.
He was the seventh-highest run-scorer in the 2023 County Championship’s division two, with 1,019 in 19 innings for an average of 56.61. His tally included five centuries.
Bedingham is contracted by Western Province and, earlier this year, reiterated ambition to player international cricket for South Africa rather than England.
“David Bedingham is back today and then Dane Paterson will be back on 5 October. So it will be very interesting in terms of team selection,” said Western Province head coach Salieg Nackerdien.
Western Province currently occupy first position in division one of this season’s One-Day Cup. They beat North West and the Lions before sharing a washout with the Warriors.
