Proteas batsman David Miller has signed for the Los Angeles Knight Riders ahead of this year’s edition of Major League Cricket in the United States of America.
Miller recently played for the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League – and will be with South Africa for next month’s T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies. He previously played for the Texas Super Kings in MLC.
This year’s Major League Cricket season will be played after the T20 World Cup.
Markram to Texas
Last month, the Texas Super Kings signed Proteas T20I captain Aiden Markram.
Markram will be former Proteas captain Faf du Plessis’ team-mate at Texas.
“I’m very excited about this. For years now, I’ve been following big cricket leagues around the world. The Super Kings brand has been a massive part of all those tournaments. I’m looking forward to the few weeks we’ll spend together as a family,” said Markram.
“Learning from some of the players in that team is something money can’t buy. I’ve been lucky enough to player under Faf previously. He is an incredible leader, an incredible man. To play with him again, to see how he goes about things, is something I’m really excited about.”
Texas reached the play-off stage during Major League Cricket’s inaugural edition in 2023.
Burger to Seattle
Earlier this year, Proteas fast bowler Nandre Burger signed for the Seattle Orcas.
“I’m extremely honoured and excited to be joining the Seattle Orcas for season two of Major League Cricket. I look forward to joining the team soon,” said Burger.
Nortje to New York
The Orcas ended 2023’s inaugural edition of MLC in second position. They lost the final to MI New York, who had South African duo Dewald Brevis and Kagiso Rabada among their live cricket scores. This year, MI New York will have Proteas fast bowler Anrich Nortje.
