Victoria Cricket Club have named the experienced Dean Oosterwyk head coach, ahead of the 2018-19 Western Province Cricket Association season.
Previously coached by the talented Cheslyn Lodewyk, Victoria Cricket Club occupied 10th position in the 2017-18 premier league standings, prior to late January’s cancellation due to the ongoing drought in Cape Town and surrounds.
“We would like to congratulate Dean, as he takes on the position as the new head coach,” read a statement from Victoria Cricket Club.
“Dean comes back home after a short stint with Claremont Cricket Club, where he gained further coaching experience. Dean represented both Victoria Cricket Club and the University of the Western Cape Cricket Club.”
Meanwhile, Former Titans batsman Rushdi Jappie has been named head coach of Rylands Cricket Club.
Jappie joined Rylands Cricket Club, from Ottoman Cricket Club, prior to the 2017-18 season – and contributed to his new club’s dominant first division B campaign.
Rylands Cricket Club, indeed, topped the 2017-18 first division B standings, prior to the season’s cancellation due to the ongoing drought in Cape Town and surrounds.
“Rushdie comes with vast experience, having played at the highest provincial levels – and has played premier cricket most of his club career, in South Africa and abroad,” read a statement from Rylands Cricket Club.
“Rylands Cricket Club sees this as a new venture and wishes Rushdie success – and will do everything in the club’s capacity to make this partnership a long-term and successful one.”
