All-rounder Delano Potgieter has joined MI New York for the 2025 edition of Major League Cricket in the United States of America.
Potgieter is contracted by the Lions in South African domestic cricket and, earlier this year, played for MI Cape Town in the SA20. He holds a bowling record in the SA20.
Potgieter is team-mates with Proteas wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton do Kock at MI New York.
Several former South African provincial and franchise cricketers have relocated to the USA, including seamer Corne Dry, batsman Andries Gous, seamers Carmi le Roux and Shadley van Schalkwyk – and all-rounders Calvin Savage and Justin Dill.
South Western Districts’ Heath Richards is with MI New York, too.
Former Proteas wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen is Seattle Orcas captain in MLC.
Washington Freedom are the reigning MLC champions. MI New York won the inaugural MLC title in 2023.
