The Tuskers have loaned spinner Sean Whitehead to the Dolphins for the opening match of the 2024-25 4-Day Domestic Series.
Whitehead, who moved to the Tuskers from the Warriors earlier this year, is available to the Dolphins for this week’s fixture against Western Province at Kingsmead in Durban.
“We welcome Sean into the squad as a loanee for the opening match of the 4-Day Domestic Series. Experienced opening batsman SJ Erwee will captain the Dolphins side,” said Dolphins head coach Quinton Friend.
Former Proteas batsman Henry Davids will work with the Dolphins during the 4-Day Domestic Series. Davids played two ODIs and nine T20Is in 2012 and 2013.
“We’ve got Henry in as our batting consultant over the next two months and it’s a great opportunity for him to showcase his expertise. We’re really excited to have him involved in our space and are looking forward to the value he can add to the mix,” added Friend.
“He has a wealth of experience and I think that we are moving in the right direction with the inclusion of someone like Henry.”
The Dolphins ended the T20 Challenge in last position recently. They won two and lost five fixtures.
“The guys knew that we needed to move on from the T20 competition as fast as possible and get into red-ball mode. We’ve spent the past few days just ironing out some kinks and we’re really looking forward to starting this competition,” concluded Friend.
