The Dolphins will offer fast bowler Tristan Luus and all-rounder Romashan Pillay rookie contracts ahead of the 2024-25 domestic season in South Africa.
Luus and Pillay have played for South Africa Under-19. Luus debuted for the Dolphins earlier this month.
“Basically we’re pretty settled. But we will be offering rookie contracts to two young under-19 players,” Dolphins chief executive Heinrich Strydom told Rapport.
“Tristan Luus is a fast bowler from the Titans, an exciting prospect, and local Westville Boys’ High School’s Romashan Pillay – an all-rounder.”
Strydom rejects Western Province
Meanwhile, Strydom will not become the new chief executive officer of the Western Province Cricket Association.
Former WPCA CEO Michael Canterbury’s tenure ended earlier this year.
WPCA president Johannes Adams wanted to appoint Canterbury’s successor by the end of March 2024. Strydom was offered the position, but declined.
“It was an incredibly difficult decision to make,” Strydom told Rapport.
“I was really looking forward to the challenge at Newlands but, unfortunately, I had to decline the offer in the end.
“It has given me a great chance to reset and hopefully take KwaZulu-Natal Cricket and the Dolphins to the next level as we prepare for the 2027 World Cup.”
