After the traditional two drafts of fixtures, which allowed clubs to request changes throughout, the Western Province Cricket Association have released a third version for the 2018-19 season.
Normally, as seen in previous seasons, the third version confirms final fixtures. The 2018-19 season, however, requires a fourth and final edition, largely due to delays in the City of Cape Town’s appointment of contractors at grounds in need of significant improvement after a challenging 12 months. The WPCA confirmed the need for an additional draft earlier this week – and later stated, “all fixtures will be considered final by Monday, 8 October.”
Notable opening fixtures:
In the premier league, 2017-18 table-topping Durbanville Cricket Club’s opening match is against Langa Cricket Club on 27 October. Southern suburbs mainstay Claremont Cricket Club, meanwhile, will host northern suburbs rivals Bellville Cricket Club.
In the first division A, last season’s log leaders United Cricket Club will play Primrose Cricket Club on the same day. Relative new additions to the first division A, Kraaifontein Cricket Club will host Strandfontein Cricket Club.
In the first division B, Bishop Lavis Cricket Club and Pinelands Cricket Club will travel to Rylands Cricket Club and Hottentots Holland Cricket Club, respectively.
