All-rounder Abdallah Bayoumy has signed a rookie contract with Western Province ahead of the 2024-25 domestic season in South Africa.
Bayoumy featured in Western Province’s title-winning One-Day Cup campaign earlier this year.
He took three wickets in the final against North West. A week earlier, he had taken four wickets against Boland.
Earlier in the tournament, he struck a match-winning half-century against the Dolphins.
“It’s a dream come true. However, the hard work starts now,” said Bayoumy.
Meanwhile, Western Province have extended head coach Salieg Nackerdien‘s contract by three years.
Nackeriden joined Western Province in 2021. He succeeded former head coach Ashwell Prince at the time.
“Western Province have locked in head coach Salieg Nackerdien for an extended three years,” read a statement from Western Province.
“After success in the One-Day Cup as well as reaching the 4-Day Domestic Series final, the head coach has grown the squad to a championship level and we see great things coming for the next stage.”
Western Province have retained batting coach Qaasim Adams. They will soon appoint a new chief executive officer and bowling coach.
Batsman Gavin Kaplan has left Western Province to join Boland.
