Former South African franchise cricketer Andries Gous has been named in the United States of America’ squad for next month’s T20 World Cup.
Gous and fellow former Knights player Shadley van Schalkwyk have been included in the USA’s 15-man squad after relocating from South Africa several years ago.
“It is every cricketer’s dream to compete the best in the world at the World Cup, so yes, for me it is definitely a dream come true, and I am guessing that it will no doubt be the same for Shadley as well,” OFM quoted Gous as saying.
“On a personal note, it just shows that the decision we made to move to the States and all the hard work and sacrifices that we had to make is finally paying off and now we can just go out and reap the rewards.
“It is awesome to be in this World Cup squad and knowing that we will play against some of the best teams in the world. It is truly exciting.”

Gous and van Schalkwyk have been playing Minor and Major League Cricket in the USA, which will co-host this year’s T20 World Cup with the West Indies.
“The excitement levels are pretty high in this country. This is a massive cricketing community in most of the cities here and the excitement levels are really high for this World Cup. A lot of the tickets in the United States are already sold out,” added Gous.
Gous and van Schalkwyk welcomed T20I debuts against Canada recently. They will face the same opposition in the USA’s opening match of the 2024 T20 World Cup.
“We are playing against Canada in the first game of the T20 World Cup, and the tickets for this game have been sold out already. That just shows you that the cricketing communities here are really excited,” concluded Gous.
