Durbanville Cricket Club beat Stellenbosch University Cricket Club (Maties) and Union Stars Cricket Club in this week’s National Club Championship play-off fixtures.
Friday’s five-wicket victory over Maties was followed by Sunday’s seven-wicket victory over Union Stars Cricket Club. Both fixtures were played at the University of the Western Cape Cricket Club.
Durbanville Cricket Club qualified for the National Club Championship play-off by winning the 2024-25 Western Province Cricket Association premier league title.
The National Club Championship will be played in September 2025.
Port Elizabeth Cricket Club will represent the Eastern Cape at the tournament.
Irene Villagers Cricket Club or Bedfordview Cricket Club will represent Northerns.
Amanzimtoti Cricket Club or University of KwaZulu-Natal, Pietermaritzburg, Cricket Club will represent KwaZulu-Natal.
North-West University Cricket Club (Pukke) or University of Johannesburg Cricket Club will represent Gauteng.
Free State’s representative will be confirmed soon.
The University of Pretoria Cricket Club (Tuks) are the reigning National Club Championship title holders.
Prior to 2024’s return, the National Club Championship had not been held since 2019.
Durbanville Cricket Club won the National Club Championship title in 2019. Only two non-university cricket clubs have won the National Club Championship since 2010. KwaZulu-Natal’s Crusaders Cricket Club won the tournament in 2015.
