Edgemead Cricket Club have effectively been promoted to the 2025-26 Western Province Cricket Association first division A after securing second position in the 2024-25 first division B.
Edgemead Cricket Club won 15 and lost three matches in this season’s WPCA first division B.
“After our loss to Kuils River Cricket Club in January, we knew we had to win all our next games if we wanted to stand a chance of getting promoted. We then went and won all those games with bonus points,” Edgemead Cricket Club chairman Lawrie Snyders told Club Cricket SA.
‘The team have really been good, with different players standing up each week. It has really been a team effort, with a mix of young and old players.”
Meanwhile, Varsity College Cricket Club have effectively been promoted to the 2025-26 WPCA first division B after ending the 2024-25 first division C in second position.
Varsity College Cricket Club debuted in WPCA club competition in 2021 and have since moved through the second division – and first divisions D and C.
“Varsity College Cricket Club continue to make waves with a series of impressive performances. Several good batting and bowling efforts played a key role in the team’s success,” said Varsity College Cricket Club sports coordinator Brent Davids.
