Seamer Zaman Akhter will represent Western Province Cricket Club in the 2025-26 Western Province Cricket Association premier league next month.
Akhter recently moved from Gloucestershire to Essex in English county cricket – and has played first-class cricket for the England Lions.
“Zaman Akhter will be playing for Western Province Cricket Club in February,” Essex media officer Oakley Bromfield told Club Cricket SA.
Essex have another cricketer playing WPCA premier league cricket this year. Wicketkeeper-batsman Simon Fernandes is with Victoria Cricket Club.
Meanwhile, Derbyshire batsman Harry Came has joined Claremont Cricket Club again. This is Came’s sixth successive season with Claremont Cricket Club.
Earlier this month, Hampshire’s Felix Organ played for Claremont Cricket Club.
Several other county cricketers from England are involved in this season’s WPCA premier league and first division A, too, including:
- Green Point Cricket Club and Worcestershire’s Gareth Roderick;
- Milnerton Cricket Club and Warwickshire’s Jake Lintott;
- Cravenby Cricket Club and Northamptonshire’s Saif Zaib; and
- Rondebosch Cricket Club and Warwickshire’s Michael Booth.
