English professional joins Milnerton Cricket Club

Milnerton Cricket Club have revealed the acquisition of county cricketer Max Waller for the 2015-16 season.

MCC gained promotion to the Western Province Cricket Association’s first division A league on the back of a successful 2014-15 campaign – and the arrival of Waller will continue the club’s pursuit of higher honours.

The 27-year-old Waller represented Somerset in the Royal London One-Day Cup and NatWest t20 Blast earlier this year – and boasts a solid first-class cricket pedigree, including County Championship Division One experience alongside former Australian batsman Justin Langer and England wicketkeeper-batsman Craig Kieswetter.

“Malcolm is a welcome recruit for us. He brings some great leg-spin and he will probably bat in the middle order,” MCC chairman Mike Reynders told Club  Cricket SA.

” With Max on board, and a handful of other good cricketers back on board, I’m looking forward to a big season.”

Captained by the experienced Damian Crowley, MCC will be accompanied by the relegated Edgemead Cricket Club and University of Cape Town Cricket Club, the promoted Northerns Goodwood Cricket Club – and Tygerberg Cricket Club, Claremont Cricket Club, Montrose Cricket Club, Ottoman Cricket Club, Avendale Cricket Club and Fish Hoek Cricket Club in the first division A league this season.
