Titans batsman Dewald Brevis collected two T20Is in 2023, but has not played for South Africa since.
Brevis was the second-highest run-scorer in this season’s 4-Day Domestic Series division one, and second highest in division one of the One-Day Cup.
He will join Hampshire, alongside Titans team-mate Lhuan-dre Pretorius, for the T20 Blast in the United Kingdom later this year.
“Two years ago Dewald got an international opportunity and then things didn’t quite work out for him,” Cricket South Africa director of national teams and high Performance Enoch Nkwe told Rapport.
“There is little doubt that if he keeps playing like he is now, he will step onto the field for the Proteas again. He has been very impressive at domestic level and it is good that he has hit the reset button and is performing.
“There will undoubtedly be more opportunities for him to secure his place in the Proteas team. One focus will be to get him to the level where he can play consistently for the Proteas.”
Brevis has also played in the Indian Premier League and Caribbean Premier League. He won the SA20 title with MI Cape Town earlier this year.
