Esmund van Wyk new director of cricket at Wynberg Boys’ High School

Former Western Province batsman Esmund van Wyk has been appointed director of cricket at Wynberg Boys’ High School.

Van Wyk has succeeded former director of cricket Andrew Wylie, who has relocated to the United Kingdom.

Van Wyk was capped 15 times at first-class level by Western Province from 2007 to 2009.

The 40-year-old played for Durbanville Cricket Club during the 2021-22 Western Province Cricket Association premier league.

He was previously employed by Bellville Technical High School.

“We take great pleasure in announcing the appointment of Esmund van Wyk as director of cricket, effective 1 July 2022,” read a statement from Wynberg Boys’ High School.

“Mr van Wyk joins us from Bellville Technical High School, where he served as sport coordinator for the last nine years, citing his specialty areas as teaching, coaching cricket and rugby – and sports management and events.

“A former semi-professional Western Province cricketer, he credits his time at the University of the Western Cape with grounding and developing his coaching, mentoring, and administrative skills.”

Proteas cricketers Kyle Verreynne, Jacques Kallis, Richard Levi and Charl Willoughby attended Wynberg Boys’ High School.”
