The first three European T20 Premier League franchise owners were confirmed this week.
Amsterdam, Edinburgh and Belfast are the first three franchise cities in the ETPL, which has been sanctioned by the International Cricket Council, and is scheduled to start on 26 August 2026.
Franchises will reportedly be allowed a total salary budget of approximately £1.1 million per season.
Former Australian captain Steve Waugh is a co-owner of the Amsterdam franchise.
“I’m not signing up to a Mickey Mouse T20 competition. This is the real deal,” Waugh told BBC Sport.
“I wouldn’t be lending my name to it, or bringing my knowledge, if it wasn’t. The players we’ve spoken to are very keen to play in this league.”
Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell co-owns the Belfast franchise.
“The Irish people love their sport and Cricket Ireland have made huge strides in expanding the game over the last two decades,” said Maxwell.
“The Wolves and the European T20 Premier League will accelerate that growth and I feel super proud to be leading the franchise in its inaugural year.”
Former New Zealand seamer Kyle Mills and spinner Nathan McCullum co-own the Edinburgh franchise.
“The opportunity to be part of franchise ownership in a league built with strong governance and deep board partnerships is hugely compelling,” said Mills.
Dublin, Glasgow and Rotterdam franchises will follow.
