Fast bowler Lungi Ngidi took a 100th wicket in ODI cricket during South Africa’s Champions Trophy match against England in Karachi, Pakistan, on Saturday.
Ngidi, who debuted in ODIs in 2018, achieved the milestone in 66 matches.
Ngidi reached 100 ODI wickets faster than former Proteas fast bowlers Shaun Pollock, Makhaya Ntini, Lance Klusener, Dale Steyn, Charl Langeveldt and Andre Nel.
Ngidi’s best bowling figures in ODI cricket are six for 20 against Australia in Bloemfontein in 2020.
South Africa beat England on Saturday. They will play India or New Zealand in the semi-final stage of the 2025 Champions Trophy.
The Proteas are without injured fast bowlers Anrich Nortje and Gerald Coetzee. Seamers Nandre Burger and Lizaad Williams are also sidelined by injury.
