Fish Hoek Cricket Club mourn passing of former overseas pro Jeremy Lloyds

Fish Hoek Cricket Club are in mourning after the death of former overseas professional Jeremy Lloyds.

Lloyds passed away earlier this month. He was 68 years old.

Lloyds played 279 first-class fixtures from 1979 to 1991. He represented Gloucestershire and Somerset in the United Kingdom – and Orange Free State in South Africa.

He also played for Fish Hoek Cricket Club in Cape Town before becoming an international umpire.

What Fish Hoek Cricket Club said

“It is with great sadness that we learnt on Monday afternoon of the passing of Jeremy Lloyds,” read a statement from the club.

“Jeremy was a stalwart of our club in the 1990s, when he was employed as our club professional.

“He loved the Hoek so much that he settled here until he started his illustrious international umpiring career.

“Many youngsters in the valley learnt the love of the game from this Fish Hoek legend.”
