Fish Hoek Cricket Club have secured the services of former Cape Town Cricket Club wicketkeeper-batsman Jamie Rood ahead of the 2015-16 season.
Rood, whose opportunites during CTCC’s recent premier league campaigns were limited, has accepted a position as player-coach at FHCC.
“I feel like this is a great opportunity for me to gain experience, playing and coaching at first team level, enhancing my cricketing credibility,” said the Hampshire-born Rood.
“I have spoken with [CTCC first XI captain] Geoff Dods, who also understands the situation – and I’d like to thank Cape Town CC for all the hard work with myself and others.”
Fish Hoek Cricket Club will compete in the Western Province Cricket Association’s first division A this season, alongside the relegated Edgemead Cricket Club and University of Cape Town Cricket Club, promoted Milnerton Cricket Club and Northerns Goodwood Cricket Club – and Tygerberg Cricket Club, Claremont Cricket Club, Montrose Cricket Club, Ottoman Cricket Club and Avendale Cricket Club.
FHCC will also field teams in the reseve league C, third division B and third division C.
