Former Dolphins and Boland seamer Zahir Abrahim returns as Robertson Cricket Club head coach

Robertson Cricket Club have named former Dolphins and Boland seamer Zahir Abrahim head coach.

This will be Abrahim’s second stint as Robertson Cricket Club head coach.

Abrahim, who played played first-class cricket for Boland, Dolphins and Griqualand West from 1995 to 2006, has succeeded former Robertson Cricket Club head coach Ismael Lekay.

Robertson Cricket Club have been relegated to the 2023-24 Cricket Boland promotion league after an unsuccessful 2022-23 premier league campaign.

“We are grateful to have Zahir’s experience with us. In the past, he played as an overseas professional in England and was a player-coach in New Zealand,” Robertson Cricket Club chairperson Cecil Fielies told Club Cricket SA.

“He was our head coach previously and is back again. His experience and expertise will help us win trophies and develop players for provincial teams in Boland.”

Robertson Cricket Club have retained all-rounder Ferisco Adams, who is currently with the St Louis Americans in Minor League Cricket in the United States of America.

Robertson Cricket Club have also retained batsman Christiaan Jonker, who was capped four times by the Proteas in 2018, and signed wicketkeeper-batsman Warren Davids.
