Former Cape Cobras, Warriors and Titans seamer Mario Olivier has been appointed head coach of Sinoville Cricket Club, ahead of a challenging 2017-18 season.
Sinoville Cricket Club occupied a disappointing 11th position in 2016-17’s 12-team Northerns Cricket Union premier league standings, on the back of a mere three victories in 15 attempts.
“I am very pleased in getting this opportunity in coaching. I am looking to help the player improve their techniques and skills. I want to develop good quality players,” Olivier told Club Cricket SA.
“My focus won’t only be with the men’s first team, but the club as a whole, too, including women’s and junior cricket.”
The 34-year-old played 59 first-class fixtures between 2005 and 2012 – and, while playing for the Warriors, achieved remarkable career-best innings figures of 10 for 65 against the Eagles in December 2007.
