Former Proteas all-rounder Justin Kemp has joined Western Province’s coaching staff.
Kemp has joined asĀ assistant bowling coach. His appointment comes after the recent resignation of bowling coach Rory Kleinveldt, who has joined Northamptonshire’s staff in the United Kingdom.
“It’s great to be back at Newlands. I have really good memories on and off the field,” said Kemp.
“There’s a huge amount of talent in the camp and head coach Salieg Nackerdien and his team have done a great job in getting silverware back to Cape Town and creating a formidable team.
“I’m excited about working with such a talented group and moving forward with this team.”
Kemp played for the Cape Cobras from 2007 to 2015. From 2001 to 2007, he played four Tests, 85 ODIs and eight T20Is for South Africa.
“I’m very excited to bring Justin on board. He has been with Western Province for a number of years and we’re looking forward to the value he can bring to our environment,” added Nackerdien.
“He has already gelled nicely with the group after our first training session since his arrival and he has started to build relationships with the players and management.
“He’ll be with us for the remainder of the T20 campaign and I’m looking forward to the knowledge he’ll bring in and hopefully we’ll build a relationship that can take this team to new heights in the future.”
