Former South African all-rounder Justin Kemp has been revealed as Claremont Cricket Club’s new first XI coach, ahead of the 2016-17 Western Province Cricket Association premier league season.

Claremont Cricket Club gained promotion after winning the first division A earlier this year – and will open their premier league campaign against Durbanville Cricket Club on 15 October 2016.

“It is with great pleasure that we get to announce Justin as our new 1st XI coach for the 2016-17 season. Claremont CC would like to take this opportunity to welcome Justin to our hallowed grounds, in the heart of Constantia, in joining our prestigious and much-loved club,” read a statement from CCC.

The talented James Cameron-Dow has also been confirmed as the new first XI captain, succeeding the veteran Zeke Snyman.

“We look forward to a great working relationship, on and off the field, and some superb cricket in the season ahead. Good luck to Justin, his team captain, James, as well as the rest of his first XI squad,” concluded the statment.

Kemp played 85 ODIs, eight T20Is and four Tests between January 2001 and October 2007 – and recently retired from the Cape Town-based franchise, Cape Cobras.
