Former Proteas all-rounder to play for Durbanville Cricket Club

Former South African all-rounder Johann Louw will reportedly represent Durbanville Cricket Club in the 2017-18 Western Province Cricket Association Ama20 Competition.

Durbanville Cricket Club have also welcomed talented duo Roubi Kapp and Brad Barnes (not to be confused with the Milnerton Cricket Club and Rondebosch Cricket Club player of the same name) from Bellville Cricket Club.

Louw, who played played three ODIs and two T20Is in 2008 and 2009, retired from professional cricket in 2014. He took 443 wickets in 145 first-class fixtures – and 216 in 163 List A encounters.

September 2013 saw the veteran right-arm seamer named Sunfoil Series Cricketer of the Year on the back of a superb campaign for the Cape Cobras. He also played franchise cricket for the Eagles and Dolphins – and county competition for Middlesex and Northamptonshire.

Durbanville Cricket Club have been pooled alongside Victoria Cricket Club, Rondebosch Cricket Club, Brackenfell Cricket Club, Claremont Cricket Club and Langa Cricket Club in group B.

They will open their campaign against Rondebosch Cricket Club, at Claremont Cricket Club, on 7 October.

Fellow premier league competitors Cape Town Cricket Club, Western Province Cricket Club, Bellville Cricket Club, Ottoman Cricket Club, Milnerton Cricket Club and the University of the Western Cape Cricket Club, meanwhile, constitute group A.
