Former Proteas and Cape Cobras spinner Dane Piedt has joined the Knights in South African domestic cricket.
Piedt, who has been capped nine times in Test cricket, played first-class cricket in South Africa for 10 years before relocating to the United States of America.
He represented Washington Freedom in the inaugural edition of Major League Cricket earlier this year – and has since been playing for the Morrisville Raptors in Minor League Cricket.
“I’m looking forward to getting to Bloemfontein and making a difference,” Piedt told OFM.
“It’s a really exciting part of my career and I am a bit more experienced after having played around the world a bit more and with different cultures.”
The Knights were relegated to division two before the start of the 2023-24 domestic season. They recently reached the final of the One-Day Cup final.
“For me, regardless of the division, cricket stays cricket and I’m just hoping to contribute where I can,” added Piedt.
“It’s going to be exciting to go to Bloemfontein and just play some good cricket. The team seems to be in a very good space after doing well in the One-Day Cup.”
