“Ex-Zimbabwean international player Mark Vermeulen, Jean du Plessis and Marcello Piedt (both provincial players) and Matt Bolttler (SWD Colts) will be key players for the Pioneers,” read a statement from South Western Districts Cricket.
“Plettenberg will play in their first premier league final, although they were runners-up in the T20 competition in 2018-19.
“Cavaliers will play in their first final since 2005-06 and the previous time they won the trophy was in 1998-99, when they played under the banner of Knysna Cricket Club.
“Cavaliers will have Blayde Capell and Sean Whitehead (both SWD provincial players), Mesuli Vuba, Keenan Vierra and Hayden Sweet (all SWC Colts players) in their line-up.”
Vermeulen played nine Tests and 43 ODIs between 2000 and 2014 – and famously struck a century against the West Indies in 2003.
