Florida Cricket Club were bowled out for just nine in Sunday, 11 March’s key 2017-18 Gauteng Cricket Board premier league B fixture against the University of the Witwatersrand Cricket Club.
Having won the toss and opted to bowl first, the hosts dismissed the visitors in a mere eight overs – 42 short of the full allotment.
Opener Junior Van Rooyen top-scored with four, while middle-order batsman Darian de Bruin struck three not out. Nine ducks and two extras completed the total.
Off-spinner Farhaan Sayanvala completed telling figures of seven for two, before the home side reached the modest target with 48.1 overs to spare.
Van Rooyen opened the bowling, too, and clinched the embarrassed visiting XI’s lone wicket.
Florida Cricket Club currently, predictably, occupy last position in the 12-team standings, while the University of the Witwatersrand Cricket Club are placed fifth.
