Proteas fast bowler Gerald Coetzee will tour Sri Lanka with South Africa A in June 2023. Coetzee will be a Titans recruit at the time, after leaving the Knights.

Coetzee debuted in first-class cricket for the Knights four years ago. They have since been relegated to division two of South African domestic cricket – and Coetzee has joined the Titans in division one.

“It’s very difficult for me to comprehend that I’m leaving the Free State,” OFM quoted Coetzee as saying.

“I have many special memories here and I’ve also worked with a lot of special people. The Knights and Free State will always be close to my heart and I will be forever grateful for the opportunities that they gave me.

“But I’m just as excited to be going to the Titans which is a very big and strong franchise. Being able to go and represent them is something that I’m very excited about. It’s something that I will also cherish greatly when I’m there.”

The Knights have lost several other players, too. Batsmen Pite an Biljon and Raynard van Tonder have joined KwaZulu-Natal Inland and North West, respectively. Seamers Mbulelo Budaza and Alfred Mothoa have left the Knights for KwaZulu-Natal Inland and the Warriors, respectively.

Batsman Matthew Kleinveldt has also joined the Titans from the Knights.
