All-rounder Grant Thomson has returned to Easterns ahead of the 2024-25 domestic season in South Africa.

Thomson, who has also played for the Titans, joined Northern Cape from Easterns in 2022.

“Grant has returned to Easterns and we, at Northern Cape, are comfortable with this. He leaves on very good terms,” Northern Cape head coach Mark Charlton told Club Cricket SA.

“He has been a great servant to Northern Cape cricket. I couldn’t have asked more of him. He sacrificed a lot and is a good man.”

Fast bowler Johan van Dyk, meanwhile, has joined the Knights from Northern Cape. Van Dyk was in the South Africa A squad last year.

“I’m very happy for Johan. He is a first division cricketer now. He has developed a lot over the years and, over the last season, has become the bowler that he has always promised to be,” added Charlton.

“He is almost the complete article. He is bowling quickly and should have a good season ahead in the first division. We wish him well.”

Batsman Chris Britz has left Northern Cape, too. He has joined Easterns as well. This will be Britz’s third team in three seasons after a stint with North West, too.

“We are very disappointed that Chris is leaving us. He was good to Northern Cape cricket. We wish him well for his future,” concluded Charlton.

Northern Cape are the reigning 4-Day Domestic Series, division two, champions. They recently signed former Tuskers all-rounder Tian Koekemoer, former Titans batsman Modiri Litheko and former Lions batsman Ronan Herrmann.
