Hanover Park Cricket Club ‘remain ambitious, plan to attract a few more players’

Hanover Park Cricket Club have retained captain Shafwaan Doutie for the 2024-25 Western Province Cricket Association first division C.

Batsman Carl Damon, who moved to Victoria Cricket Club for one season, has since returned to Hanover Park Cricket Club.

Hanover Park ended the 2023-24 WPCA first division C in sixth position after seven wins and 11 defeats.

“We are proud to announce three additions to the club. Joshua Dennis will be with us and Carl is returning home. Ferdinand Williams is joining us from Ottoman Cricket Club,” read a statement from Hanover Park Cricket Club.

“The club remains ambitious in wanting to secure higher league status. However, we remain committed to the development of our youth. The club plan to attract a few more players with its vision and plans for the future.

“Shafwaan retains the captaincy of the first XI and, once the squad is finalised, head coach Gemau Adams, the captain and team will select two vice-captains to support Shafwaan. They will also be developed to take over when the time is right.

“Ex-club cricketer Reyhaad Abrahams will the convenor of selectors.

“The club have appointed Shane Overberg as manager of Hanover Park Cricket Club Veterans. Costa Hendricks will be captain – and Niezaam Adams and Kevin Greentree his vice-captains.”
