Hanover Park Cricket Club’s Cheslyn Fredericks starred in early October 2018’s Learners with Special Educational Needs Cricket Week in Benoni.
The 16-year-old was named Bowler of the Tournament – and later selected for South Africa’s Learners with Special Educational Needs under-19 school team.
“This is an exciting off-spinner. We pray that he becomes our first Proteas cricketer the club produces. Our role is to continue to develop him on and off the field,” said Hanover Park Cricket Club chairperson Ashraf Allie.
“We are so proud of his achievement. Top bowler of the tournament and on the one day, they played two T20 games against Boland and Eastern Cape, he took 10 wickets.”
In November, Fredericks will play against an Indian Learners with Special Educational Needs team – and compete in December’s Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Under-19 Cricket Week.
