Wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen has not been contracted by Cricket South Africa for the 2025-26 season.
Cricket South Africa named the 18 players awarded national contracts for the 2025-26 season earlier this month. Klaasen, who was contracted for 2024-25, was not included this time.
“Heinrich is trying to negotiate a hybrid contract with CSA, which will allow him to pursue playing in the India Premier League, the SA20 and The Hundred, but he has said he’ll be available to us.” Titans chief executive officer Jacques Faul told Rapport.
CSA have given batsmen Rassie van der Dussen and David Miller hybrid contracts. The national and hybrid contracts will be valid from 1 June 2025 to 31 May 2026.
“The hybrid contracts take into consideration the dynamic nature of modern-day cricket and will provide David and Rassie with the opportunity to contribute to the team during specific bilateral tours and International Cricket Council events,” said CSA director of national teams and high Performance Enoch Nkwe.
“Discussions regarding Heinrich Klaasen’s future are ongoing, and a final decision will be made in due course.”
Fast bowlers Kwena Maphaka and Lizaad Williams – and all-rounder Senuran Muthusamy – have been contracted for the first time by CSA.
All-rounder Wiaan Mulder, wicketkeeper-batsman Kyle Verreynne and batsman David Bedingham previously received contract upgrades – and have been retained.
“I want to congratulate all the players who have been awarded national contracts for the next 12 months, especially the players who have been contracted for the first time,” added Nkwe.
“All of these players have been contracted with the importance of the next World Test Championship cycle and the 2027 Cricket World Cup on home soil in mind.
“An exciting season awaits as we compete for the WTC mace and look to take one step further in next year’s T20 World Cup. We wish all the contracted players the very best for the year ahead.”
