Dolphins Cricket chief executive officer Heinrich Strydom will not become the new chief executive officer of the Western Province Cricket Association.
Former WPCA CEO Michael Canterbury’s tenure ended earlier this year.
WPCA president Johannes Adams wanted to appoint Canterbury’s successor by the end of March 2024. Strydom was offered the position, but declined.
“It was an incredibly difficult decision to make,” Strydom told Rapport.
“I was really looking forward to the challenge at Newlands but, unfortunately, I had to decline the offer in the end.
“It has given me a great chance to reset and hopefully take KwaZulu-Natal Cricket and the Dolphins to the next level as we prepare for the 2027 World Cup.”
Former Cape Cobras and Proteas wicketkeeper-batsman Dane Vilas also applied for the post.
