Former Proteas batsman Herschelle Gibbs has been appointed head coach of the Joburg Buffaloes for this month’s inaugural edition of the Zim Afro T10.
Gibbs has previously coached the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League and Colombo Kings in the Lanka Premier League.
English duo Will Smeed and Ravi Bopara, Proteas fast bowler Junior Dala and others joined the Buffaloes during this week’s Zim Afro T10 player auction.
Prior to the auction to the player draft, the Buffaloes signed England batsman Tom Banton, Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim, Afghanistan all-rounder Noor Ahmad and Indian all-rounder Yusuf Pathan.

More about the Zim Afro T10
The five-team Zim Afro T10 is scheduled for 20 to 29 July 2023. All the matches will be played in Harare.
The tournament is effectively an extension of the Abu Dhabi T10, which is owned by T Ten Sports Management.
