Hottentots Holland Cricket Club have celebrated promotion to the 2023-24 Western Province Cricket Association first division A after 2022-23’s first division B standings were ratified at last week’s members’ council meeting at Newlands.
Hottentots Holland Cricket Club won 12 and lost six matches in the 2022-23 WPCA first division B to finish in second position. United Cricket Club, who have also been promoted to the first division A, finished in first position.
“We have gained promotion to the WPCA first division A for the first time in our history,” read a statement from the club.
“Our top three batsman in the first division A were captain Waleed Smith, Abdul-aziz Temoor and Mieftaah Oliver. Our top three bowlers were Temoor, Shameel Abels and Oliver.”
Temoor was recently included in the South Africa Over-40 squad after representing Boland Over-40.
“Congratulations to our player-coach Abdul-aziz for his inclusion in the South Africa Over-40 squad. We are immensely proud of him,” continued the club’s statement.
