Former Ireland Under-19 batsman Liam Doherty debuted for Northern Cape in first-class cricket on Thursday, 15 January 2026.
Doherty represented Ireland at the Under-19 World Cup in 2022.
He played List A and T20 cricket in Ireland before relocating to South Africa and debuted for Northern Cape in the T20 Knockout last year – and the 4-Day Domestic Series this week.
Meanwhile, Dolphins seamer Zedan Mahomed has joined Northern Cape on loan.
Mahomed is on a high performance contract squad at the Dolphins and, last year, played in the T20 Challenge.
He had previously played first-class cricket for the Tuskers, too.
