Border spinner Jade de Klerk has effectively replaced all-rounder Senuran Muthusamy at North West ahead of the 2025-26 domestic season in South Africa.
Muthusamy left North West for the Warriors last year – and has since been contracted by Cricket South Africa.
De Klerk was the leading wicket-taker in the 2024-25 4-Day Domestic Series, division two. He took 44 wickets in 11 innings at an average of 16. He was Border’s second-highest wicket-taker in the 2024-25 One-Day Cup, division two.
“Jade has been on my radar for some time – I actually played against him. I just waited for him to be out of contract at Border. We’ve been looking to replace Senuran Muthusamy for some time and we’ve always liked the look of Jade,” North West head coach Craig Alexander told Netwerk24.
“He can hold a bat – he can more than hold a bat – in the lower middle-order so there’s also that aspect of his game. We’re looking forward to having him. It has been a case of being patient.”
North West have also signed all-rounder Dian Forrester from the Knights, seamer Onke Nyaku from Western Province and former Warriors duo Diego Rosier and Alfred Mothoa.
Seamers Marco Jansen, Duan Jansen, Bamanye Xenxe, Gideon Peters and Kerwin Mungroo have left North West. The Jansens have moved to the Titans. Peters and Mungroo have joined the Warriors. Xenxe has moved to the Tuskers.
