Batsman James Crowson has joined Cape Town Cricket Club from Western Province Cricket Club, ahead of the 2019-20 Western Province Cricket Association premier league.
Crowson spent several seasons at Western Province Cricket Club and one at Claremont Cricket Club.
What Crowson said
“I would like to give thanks to WPCC for not only the seven-plus seasons spent there, but for childhood and lifetime memories. My father played 27 seasons for the club, which is where my passion grew,” Crowson told Club Cricket SA.
“For a couple reasons a new and exciting opportunity has come about at Cape Town Cricket Club. Every match against CTCC was always a hard battle until the very end.
“Over the last few seasons, I have watched them grow to become a real force in premier league cricket – and I hope to add value to what is already a quality side.”
Cape Town Cricket Club finished in the third position in 2018-19’s 12-team WPCA premier league. They won 15 of 22 matches. Nine of the 15 were achieved with bonus points, according to WebSports.
Elsewhere in the premier league
Crowson’s move is the second within the premier league this month. Last week, left-arm seamer Mpilo Njoloza left Brackenfell Cricket Club for Bellville Cricket Club.
Brackenfell Cricket Club, though, have recruited seamer Brandon Viret and Cape Cobras all-rounder George Linde from Durbanville Cricket Club.
