Voorburg Cricket Club have signed Proteas batsman Janneman Malan and South Western Districts batsman Andre Malan ahead of the 2022 domestic season in the Netherlands.
The Malans will represent Voorburg Cricket Club in the Topklasse – a leading limited-overs competition in the Netherlands.

“We are extremely proud to announce that, for the 2022 season, the club secured the services of brothers Janneman and Andre Malan, bolstering the first XI as we continue striving to uplift and enhance the quality of cricket,” read a statement from Voorburg Cricket Club.
Delano Potgieter, too
Voorburg Cricket Club have also recruited North West all-rounder Delano Potgieter and Netherlands fast bowler Logan van Beek.
“Delano’s relationships with a number of players in the club made it a natural fit and he considers adding to the depth of the side and club a huge privilege,” added Voorburg Cricket Club.
“Continuing the relationship with Logan is a significant positive for the club. Logan’s knowledge, attitude and hunger to perform has certainly added significant value to the entire cricket community.”
Sybrand Engelbrecht
Former Western Province and Cape Cobras batsman Sybrand Engelbrecht is with Voorburg Cricket Club previously, but has been sidelined after shoulder surgery.
“VCC is very ambitious and eager to do better year after year. Last year we clearly could improve on the batting front, and the injury of Sybrand was an obvious setback,” added Voorburg Cricket Club player-coach Tom de Grooth.
“Most of all we are convinced that all these players can be instrumental in creating a top environment in matches and during practice sessions – something our talented youngsters will benefit from.”
Several South Africans have played club cricket in the Netherlands, including Rondebosch Cricket Club pair Lenert van Wyk and Tayo Walbrugh, Western Province Cricket Club seamer Ryan Klein and Warriors batsman Tristan Stubbs.
