South Western Districts captain Jean du Plessis has become the third player in the history of South African first-class cricket to hit a double century and a century in the same match.
Du Plessis hit 203 and 101 not out in last week’s 4-Day Domestic Series, division two, win over Border at the Recreation Ground in Oudtshoorn.
The first batsmen to achieve this feat were Transvaal’s Adam Bacher and South Africa’s Herschelle Gibbs during the 1996-1997 season.
Bacher struck 210 and 112 not out against Griqualand West in Kimberley.
Gibbs hit 200 not out and 272 against India A in Nagpur.
